Vacation

Hi Friends! I hope that you all had a nice and happy Thanksgiving. I sure did! I wanted to update my blog while I was on vacation, but the Lady does not have Internet at the house and the only place to get it was the grocery store. They don't allow dogs, which in the words of the great Dennis the Vizsla, is gross discrimination.

I had lots of fun down in South Carolina! Mommy found a dog park right near the Lady's condo, so I got to go everyday. But mommy was bad and forgot the camera, so these are the only pictures I have from there. As you can see,I wasn't interested in posing, I wanted to play with my new friends.

Daddy took me to the beach for some fun in the ocean. Except, the ocean was cold! I only got a little wet. Gracie and I ran and ran and played until we crashed into daddy and I hurt my ribs. That was his sign that it was time to go back. Of course, daddy does not do pictures, but here is an old one of me on the beach.

I had my own bag of my things that mommy packed me. All of the necessities are there: food, bowls, kongs, squeaky ball, Tug-a-Jug, bones, and a beach towel. I helped, can you tell?

Remy was not too mean, but I am still pretty unsure about that guy. I think he might be jealous of my good looks and svelte body.

The Lady and John took more pictures, so I will post them later. I am just waiting for mommy to get them for me.

P.S. Please keep my bestest friend Zoe in your prayers. She is having surgery today and I hope she is better soon!

Long Time, No Post

Hi Friends! Sorry that I have not blogged in a while. Mommy and daddy are working a lot to get ready for vacation, so I have been unfortunately in my crate more than normal. I am still working on trying to open it on my own, but so far, no luck.

So, like I said, we are going on vacation tomorrow! I am so excited!!!! Mommy, daddy, and I are going to Myrtle Beach, SC for Thanksgiving. If you didn't guess, they have a beach there, my favorite. Here are some pictures of me on the beach from last time we were there.

Jumping waves

Doggy Surfing

Just plain happy!

The only bad thing about vacation....that meanie Remy is coming too. I hope he is nicer to me, I don't like rolling on my back for him. Maybe Gracie and I will get some quality time to run on the golf course there.

Captivity

Hi Friends! I am sorry that I have not blogged recently. Mommy and daddy have been working a lot and they have a password on the darn computer. Plus, as much as I try, I cannot get out of my crate without their help.

Anyway, I have not been able to have many new adventures because my paw pad still has a boo-boo on it. I did manage to eat one of my Michael Jackson socks, but mommy and daddy are onto my plan of destroying the evidence of my injury and takes them off when I am in my crate. But, I am still sporting a sock when I am out of the crate and still not smiling about it.

The baddest part of this whole thing is that I cannot go for my runs in the fields. It has been one whole week and I am really bored and need a good run. I did manage to find a way to occupy myself during my crate time because it has been more than normal.

Uh-Oh

Hi Friends! Well, I forgot to tell you that I got a boo-boo on Monday while mommy and I were on my morning run in the fields. I don't remember what I stepped on, but when I got home, mommy saw that there was blood on the carpet.

I guess I hurt the part of my foot called my paw pad. That's what mommy called it. Fortunately, I did not have to go to the V-E-T for this because although I like going to the V-E-T, I do not like getting my temperature taken. I usually jump off the table into mommy's arms when they try to take it.

Anyway, I had to go in my crate to rest and see if it would clot on its own. After the whole day, mommy let me out and guess what, I bleeded all over the carpet. That's what she gets for keeping me in that crate. Mommy and daddy put a big bandage on my foot, but I took it off twice because I am a tough Vizsla and don't need western medicine. Mommy did not agree with me.

One of the girls on mommy's pet board suggested using a baby sock to help keep my boo-boo covered. I still have not figured out how to get that off, but I have to admit that it feels a lot better than the big bandage because there is only a little bandage under the sock.

So here are some pictures of me sporting my new accessory:

As you can see I am a little sad about the boo-boo and new sock

But then I got a new bone, so all is good again! Maybe if I get it dirty enough, mommy will take it off. What do I look like, Michael Jackson!

Weekend of Fun!

Hi Friends! I hope that you all had a great weekend, I sure did.

Saturday, mommy took me to the dog park to play with my buddy Finn. We had so much fun running around and playing tug with a Frisbee. Finn is a Vizsla too, so I did my fastest running with him. I had so much fun, until this big dog came and he bossed me around. I didn't like that, so I told him. Mommy said it was time to go because I was overexcited. That made me sad, but I did get a long play, so I was happy in the end.

Something bad happened Saturday night. Mommy fell down the stairs taking me out for a pee pee and hurt her arm bad. I had to run to her and give her lots and lots of kisses. She said that made her feel much better. I was very worried about mommy, so I wouldn't let her out of my sight and kept giving her kisses all night. She's ok, nothing is broked, but she is still sore. It is my job to make her feel better.

Yesterday, we went to mommy's parents' house. I call them John and the Lady. The Lady is really nice and gives me lots of treats and cheese. John takes me for walks, but his big problem is that the mean Remy dog is always with him. I got to play with Gracie for a while outside and ran across the street twice to visit the other friends there. John didn't like that, so I was put in the house for a while. Mommy, aunt Brenna, and the Lady went shopping and didn't even take me with them. I stayed at the house and played with Gracie and ran away from Remy.

Mommy tried to take some new pictures of Remy and Gracie. She seems to have forgotten that the camera is only to document me and my awesomeness. I reminded her by whining, jumping up on her, and posing for some new pictures. The Lady told mommy that it is not normal for a dog to pose for pictures smiling. I don't think she is one to talk because her dog is a meanie and therefore, not normal. Plus, they speak a funny language to Gracie. Oh well! Here are some new glamour shots of me.

And one of Gracie and that meanie Remy.

A Day in the Life of Doug

Hi Friends! Well, one of mommy's friends asked to hear about my day, so I thought I would share with you all as well. This is my schedule for days that mommy and daddy both go to works. The days that they are home are different, so I can't really make my schedule for you.

5:30 am: Daddy lets me out of my crate and takes me for a peepee. Then I go right back to bed

7:00 am: Mommy takes me for my morning run in the fields where I work on my hunting skills and see some of my friends. Then, I help mommy make her lunch and my peanut butter kong.

8:00 am: I go in my crate with my peanut butter kong.

8:00-5:00: I am in my crate. You might ask "why do you need to be in a crate Doug, you seem like such a nice, good boy?" Well, let me tell you mommy and daddy were not such big fans of my redecorating last time they left me out, so I have to go in the crate when they are gone. I think that my handy work is quite good, they don't know good taste when they see it.

5:00 pm: Time for my evening run in the fields. I usually see a bunch of friends during this walk and continue to work on my stalking skills. I look like a professional hunter, don't I?

6:00 pm: Dinner Time, yum!

6:15-9:00 pm: Play time. I usually chew on bones, de-stuff my stuffies, chase stuff, bother my mommy and daddy to play, push my toys under the couch and then whine, and run around during this time. I like it when daddy teases me and wrestles with me.

9:00: I am usually pretty tired from all of my playing, so I occasionally fall asleep on my special bed or on mommy and daddy's bed (if they let me).

9:30 pm: Back to my crate for sleepy night nights. That's what mommy calls it, I think she's crazy.

So there you have it, a pretty normal day in the life of Douglas.

My Halloween

Hi Friends! Well, mommy decided it would be a good idea to dress me up for Halloween. Daddy was going to be a priest, mommy was going to be a nun, and I was the rabbi. But daddy got sick, so I was the only one who was forced to get dressed up. Fortunately, mommy did not make me keep on my costume for too long because she wants to save it for next year.

So, when the kids came to visit me, I wore my Security shirt instead. It was hard to keep everyone safe and as you can see, I took my job very seriously.

Please note, I am available to work any events that you might need top notch security for. My fees range from peanut butter kongs to bully sticks to steak.

Things That Don't Make Me Happy

Hi Friends! Well, there are so many things that make me happy, I though that it would be easier to compile a list of things that do not. Pretty much anything not on my list makes me happy.

So here it is, the list of things that does not make Doug a happy Vizsla:
1. Remy, my mommy's parents dog. He is a Portuguese Water Dog, but I just call him a bully. We used to be friends, but then they got Gracie and he has been mean ever since. He makes me roll on my back and growls at me, so that makes him #1 on the list of things that do not make Doug happy.

As you can see, this picture was taken a long time ago before Remy turned into a bully.

2. The Nail Clippers. These also make me hit the ground, but for other reasons. It's not that daddy hurts me when he clips my nails, they just don't make me happy.

3. The Thermometer. Do you know where they put that thing?!?

4. The Squirt Bottle. Mommy and daddy occasionally have to use this when I am digging in the yard or trying to get mail off the table. Don't they know I am just helping. But, if let on its own, the squirt bottle can be fun to drink from, so I guess it only makes me not happy when it is in mommy or daddy's hands.

5. Thunder. I know that this noise means that the end of the world is coming. No one here believes me. I usually remind them by shaking uncontrollably and panting.

Obviously this is not a picture of thunder because you can't take a picture of it, but this lightning is friends with thunder and they usually hang out together.

6. Fireworks. Similar to thunder and the people who live here love to fire them ALL OF THE TIME. I need to move.

So there you have it. A short list of things that do not make Doug a happy Vizsla. There might be more, but those don't really make me that not happy.

Dog Park Fun!

Hi Friends! Saturday mommy took me to the dog park to meet up with some of my agility friends. And guess what, they never came. Mommy said something about Finn's mommy getting a delivery and it being kind of rainy out. I was a little sad, until I met Ginger who is a German Shorthaired Pointer. I had so much fun with Ginger, running and playing. There was a also two border collies there who I played with. I liked them too, but they were silly and kept herding me where they wanted to go. Don't they know I am a Vizsla, not a sheep or cow (even though I do love to eat grass).

Anyway, I played for a very long time until mommy said it was time to go. On the ride home, she took picturs of me saying I had "sleepy eyes." That s when I am tired and my eyes look all droppy. But I am never too tired to play and meet friends. Here is a picture of said sleepy eyes. I don't think I look tired, do you?
